Library Building Access

For the remainder of the fall semester, the Bryan College Library building is only open to students, faculty, and staff by key-card access only. 

Building Access Hours for Students, Faculty, & Staff:

Mon - Th     7:45 AM - Midnight (the 2nd floor will close at 9:30 PM)

Fri               7:45 AM - 5:00 PM

Sat              1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (the 2nd floor is closed all day)

Sun             6:00 PM - Midnight (the 2nd floor will close at 9:30 PM)

We are currently closed for community patron use or gathering to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a result, Computer Use is currently unavailable. Curbside service is now available to community patrons. Please email libdesk@bryan.edu or call (423) 775-7307 with questions.

Access to Online and Physical Materials

We are here to get you the materials you need to teach your classes or complete your assignments. The links below provide direct access to materials including databases, articles, books, e-books, and streaming video.

Library Services FAQs

Q: What do I do if I need help with my research for an assignment?

A: Contact a Librarian! That's what we get paid for! We are here to teach you just like your other professors, so use our expertise to learn! (See below.)

Q: When and how can I get research help from a librarian?
  • A: Librarians are monitoring the telephone (423-775-7307) and emails (libdesk@bryan.eduduring these hours for immediate research assistance:

Mon – Th       8:00 AM – 9:30 PM

Fri                     8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Sun                6:00 PM – 9:30 PM

  • A: Librarians are offering the availability of video reference service through Google Meet during the same hours by appointment only: (Call or email for an appointment during the hours noted above and you will get a Google Meet invitation by email.)
Q: What do I do if I can't get into the databases?

A: If you are not used to accessing databases off-campus, you may not realize that you need to log into MyBryan before accessing the databases. Then click on the library icon in the bar at the bottom of the page, and navigate to the database you want to go to from there. If you have done this and still have difficulty, contact us at (phone) 423-775-7307 or (email) libdesk@bryan.edu for help.

Q: Where are other resources that I can use online?

A: There is a list of freely accessible resources (for a limited time) on a special subject guide called "Free for a Limited Time" available now. Check it out! You may also notice new material available through our databases for a limited time that is not normally accessible through your Bryan logon.

Q: Can I come to the Library?

A: In order to help "flatten the curve" on the coronavirus, the library will be open only to students, faculty, & staff (key card access only) for the remainder of the fall semester. See the rest of this and the other FAQs to learn what you can still do through the library and what we can still do for you.

Q: Can I still check out any physical books from the library?

A: Yes! Students, faculty and staff who wish to check out physical items may do so. For community patrons, curbside service will be available to check out materials. Please call (423) 775-7307 with questions.

Q: How can I return books to the library?

A: You can return books in the outside book drop which is on the parking lot side of the library anytime. Contact us for more information.

Q: Can I still use Interlibrary loan (ILL) for items I can't get through Bryan's databases?

A: Yes, items that can be obtained physically or electronically will be available through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This includes most books, journal articles, and very limited scans (10 pages or less) from books.
